Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

Faith defined: the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening, he shall have whatever he says. Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them.

Jesus teaches about mountain-moving faith rooted in prayer and belief.

for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.

Saved by grace through faith — it is a gift of God, not by works.

Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.

Faith without works is dead — genuine belief produces action.

He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.

for we walk by faith, not by sight.

We walk by faith, not by sight — trusting God beyond what we can see.

I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.

Paul declares he lives by faith in the Son of God who loved him.

For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”

The righteous shall live by faith — a theme that echoes through all of Scripture.
