Their Story
A loudmouthed fisherman who became the foundation of the church. Peter was always the first to speak, the first to act, and frequently the first to fail. He walked on water β and sank. He declared Jesus the Christ β and then rebuked Jesus for talking about the cross. He swore he'd die for Jesus β and denied knowing him three times before dawn.
But Jesus didn't give up on Peter. After the resurrection, he sought Peter out, restored him with three questions ('Do you love me?'), and commissioned him to lead. Peter became the preacher at Pentecost, the apostle to the Jews, and the rock on which the early church was built. His transformation from coward to cornerstone is one of the most encouraging stories in Scripture.

Character
Impulsive, passionate, and achingly honest about his failures. Peter wore his heart on his sleeve β every emotion at full volume. He was brave enough to step out of the boat and humble enough to cry when he failed. His greatest strength was that he kept coming back. After every failure, Peter returned to Jesus.
Legacy
Leader of the early church. Author of 1 and 2 Peter. Tradition says he was crucified upside down in Rome, considering himself unworthy to die as Jesus did. Peter proves that Jesus doesn't call the qualified β he qualifies the called.
