Their Story
Joseph never speaks a single recorded word in Scripture. Everything we know about him comes from what he did: he obeyed. When an angel told him in a dream to take Mary as his wife despite her unexplainable pregnancy, he got up and did it. When an angel told him to flee to Egypt, he left that night. When told to return, he returned.
His silence in Scripture is itself eloquent. Joseph was a righteous man who protected his family through quiet, decisive obedience. He taught Jesus to work with his hands, brought him up in the Torah, and gave the Son of God a human father's love. Joseph reminds us that some of God's most important roles require no spotlight at all.

Character
Righteous, protective, and quietly courageous. Joseph faced an impossible situation — his fiancée pregnant by someone else — and handled it with extraordinary grace even before the angel explained. He was a man who listened to God (through dreams) and acted immediately, without argument or delay. His silence speaks volumes about trust.
Legacy
Protector and provider for the Holy Family. His obedience kept Jesus alive through infancy. Joseph teaches that faithfulness doesn't require understanding — sometimes it just requires getting up in the middle of the night and going where God sends you.
