Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God. These verses offer wisdom for building a marriage that honors God and blesses both partners.
Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
A man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife â the foundation of marriage.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her,
Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.
Love is patient and is kind. Love doesnât envy. Love doesnât brag, is not proud, doesnât behave itself inappropriately, doesnât seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesnât rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
Love is patient, kind, not self-seeking â the blueprint for married love.
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesnât have another to lift him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one keep warm alone? If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Two are better than one â a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Who can find a worthy woman? For her value is far above rubies.
An excellent wife â who can find? Her value is far above rubies.
Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
