for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.

Saved by grace through faith — the clearest statement of grace in Scripture.

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

My grace is sufficient for you — God's power shines brightest in our weakness.

But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God demonstrates His love: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
